2024 College Fleet Race Nationals Hit Boston May 20th

The Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) is excited to announce the start of its eagerly awaited Spring Women's and Open Fleet Race National Championships, scheduled to commence on May 20th, 2024. The prestigious event will open with the College Sailing Women's Semi-Finals Championship, spotlighting the top talents in collegiate women's sailing. Presented by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University, this year's championship guarantees a thrilling showcase of skill and competition.

The schedule for the 2024 Spring College Sailing Fleet Race Nationals is as follows:

Women’s Fleet Race National Championship: May 20-23

  • Women’s Semi-Finals at MIT and Harvard: May 20-21
  • Women’s Finals at MIT: May 22-23

Open Fleet Race National Championship – May 24-27

  • Open Semi-Finals at MIT and Harvard: May 24-25
  • Open Finals at Harvard: May 26-27

If you couldn’t catch the incredible Open and Women's Team Race National Championships in late April, you certainly won't want to miss out on these upcoming events. Once again, teams from across the United States will converge on the Charles River, with the MIT Sailing Pavilion and the Harvard Boathouse joining forces to host the teams. This collaborative effort ensures an ideal viewing experience for both sailors and spectators, with the opportunity to set up tents just west of the Walker Memorial.

“MIT and Harvard appreciate the opportunity to host the best teams in the country to compete for these prestigious trophies,” said Matt Lindblad, Cucchiaro Family Director of Sailing at MIT. “Much of the early foundation for College Sailing was laid by Boston area sailors who wanted to build opportunities for college students across the country to come together to form friendships and learn life lessons through the sport of sailing. It is fitting that these championships return to Boston 87 years later with 72 of the best open and women’s teams from across the country competing over the eight days.”

The Charles River Basin is a natural sailing stadium with ample opportunity for fans of College Sailing to come and view the racing from the parkland surrounding the racing area. For added viewing, on May 21 and May 24 event organizers have arranged a special viewing opportunity at MIT’s Samberg Center that requires advance (and limited) ticketing - learn more here: LINK

Will Roger Williams University's impressive victory in this year's Open Team Race Championship influence the outcome of the 2024 Open Fleet Race Championship?
